Australian motorists have voted Toyota the country's most trusted automotive brand for the eighth year in a row.
The results of the survey conducted for Reader's Digest Australia coincide with the 50th anniversary of Toyota cars being built in Australia.
Toyota is also heading towards its 11th consecutive year as the country's best-selling automotive brand and the mid-size Toyota Camry is in its 20th year as the national sales leader in its class.
Reader's Digest editor Sue Carney said the survey of more than 3,000 people was conducted to identify the products that dominate lifestyles and hold the all-important trust of Australians.
Ms Carney said the most trusted brands were those that continued to offer quality and substance, particularly in uncertain times.
"They have a long history of being steadfast and safe, which makes them a hot property in modern day Australia," she said.
Toyota Australia's executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said the award was a tribute to everyone who worked for Toyota and its national dealer network.
"Toyota is proud to have again led this survey as the most trusted of more than 50 automotive brands in the country, but we take nothing for granted," Mr Cramb said.
"We are determined to keep improving our vehicles and all aspects of our business in the interests of our customers and their families," he said.
"We will continue to offer class-leading vehicles that Australians feel most confident driving - whether they are built here or imported."
Australian motorists have bought more than 5.7 million Toyota vehicles while in excess of one million locally built Toyota cars have been exported.
Comments about Toyota by survey respondents include:
• "Trustworthy company." (Female 45-49, NSW)
• "It's the only car I buy." (Female 50-54, QLD)
• "They are the most reliable cars around." (Male 50-54, WA)
