Oil Collection, Treatment & Recovery

Waste oil and coolant from our Service Departments is stored and collected regularly by an accredited waste disposal company. Oil filters are also stored, collected & recycled, along with the metal containers they are stored in, which is then turned into new steel and new steel products. Every year, the Jarvis workshops use thousands of litres of oil and lubricants to keep our customers vehicles running reliably. A by-product of this part of our business is the waste oil that is generated. The handling and disposal of our used oils is just as important as the delivery and storage of the fresh oil. All sites have equipment and processes in place to ensure that the waste oil is efficiently collected from the work bays and transferred to holding tanks for collection.

J.J. Richards Total Waste Management Service

JJ’s Waste & Recycling provides Total Waste Management Services including a used oil collection and recycling service, along with allied workshop services (parts washers, oily rags, filters and coolants etc.) and management of other hydrocarbon wastes like oily water, oily sludge and blackjack grease. JJ’s Waste is developing a number of regionally located aggregation and oil recovery facilities to support this service.

JJ’s Waste is committed to raising the industry standard providing true used oil recycling services in order to reduce the reliance on burning oil as the only disposal option for used oil. This commitment has lead JJ’s Waste to develop a specialised oil collection fleet and facilities including treatment, recovery and aggregation. JJ’s Waste is also proud to be working in partnership with Southern Oil Refineries to provide a true lube to lube recycling solution.

JJ’s Waste offers oil collection as part of its Total Waste Management Services, including:

  • Oil collection as part of a package service one-stop shop
  • Oil collection on a fixed frequency
  • True oil recycling, not burnt for energy
  • Lockable collections vessels

G-Force

JJ’s Waste is the first in Australia to utilise a uniquely adapted specialised G-Force machine to maximise recovery and reuse of oil, sludges and industrial wastewater. JJ’s Waste G-Force is located in Wacol in the western corridor of South East Queensland. Aside from recovering the oil through the G-Force process, JJ’s Waste, through its significant investment and commitment to recycling and resource recovery, will also assist in ensuring this material does not end up in Queensland’s waterways, landfills and sewerage systems.

Used Oil Re-Refineries

JJ’s Waste and Southern Oil Refining Pty Ltd have partnered together to construct a state of the art, 100 million litres per year used oil re-refinery in Gladstone, Queensland. Together with the original Southern Oil Refinery in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, the facilities now have a combined capability to re-refine over 130 million litres of waste lube oil per year.

Re-refining removes all contaminants and worn additives from used oil to yield high quality base oil products, which are sold to manufacturers as the raw ingredient for production of new lubricating oils. Approximately 98% of the carbon associated with the original lube oil is preserved in the process, making it the most environmentally beneficial and economically sustainable use of a non-renewable resource.

Used oil aggregation facilities are managed in JJ’s Waste depots or partner facilities located in major cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Bendigo, Brisbane, Darwin, Clermont, Mackay, Mt Isa, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and Townsville.
